Lighting equipment can be categorized into fixed and portable categories based on its installation and mobility.

Fixed lighting is permanently installed in a location and typically includes lights that are hardwired into the electrical systems of buildings or structures, such as overhead lights in hallways, ceilings, and stairwells. These lights are designed for consistent, ongoing use in a specific area.

On the other hand, portable lighting refers to lights that can be easily moved from one location to another. This type includes battery-powered lights, flashlights, and lights used in various situations like emergency responses or outdoor activities. Portable lighting is often essential for firefighters during operations where mobility and adaptability are critical for safety and effectiveness.

While the other categories of equipment may have their merits in different contexts, the distinction between fixed and portable is particularly pertinent in resource management and operational planning, especially for firefighters responding to various scenarios.
